Making extra to freeze is such a great idea. Thank you for letting us know to cool them completely.
I was the only person that I knew that used jam/preserves on waffles. In fact, even Dh had never had them that way until me.
As you know, when I was a child, my paternal grandfather, who was an excellent cook, would make my sister and I nighttime treats when we visited once a week, or so. And, one of those treats were waffles.
When he served them, he served them with jam/preserves. He actually heated/melted it, but that quickly morphed, when we had them at home, to just spreading it on.
Of course, we put butter on first, and I liked to see all of the little dimples filled with melted butter and jam. :-)
I love French toast! But, until I find a bread again, it will have to wait.
