We had stew this week, and I came up with a good idea for us.
I like to add a few elbow noodles to my stew, since it's sans potatoes. But, not to the stew itself, since the noodles are gf, but at the table.
As we were going to have the stew more than once, since I can't keep it past a few days, I didn't want to waste gas in the generator each time, to boil water, then wait for the pasta to cook, when I only needed it on for the few minutes that it takes to heat stew on the stove.
So, I made a bag of elbows, extra al dente.
Then, I put them in the ice box. That way, when I heated the stew, I put some of the slightly-underdone noodles in the pot to heat with the stew, and by the time the stew was hot, so were the noodles, as well as being perfectly done.
