Thomas-Nathan has not be available in the exhibition portion of the season so that has pushed the depth chart up a bit. Chloe bangs the ball and has good athletic ability so hopefully she grows into an effective pin hitter as a redshirt freshman. I like what she brings so hopefully the freshman jitters/consistency are nonexistent or very short lived.

UCLA could be really really good. They have some high level players
I would love to see Long Beach come out and take it to the Bruins, especially make it tough on them with serve, as they'll need to do to win. UCLA had trouble with Long Beach last year in their first match.

The home match with UCLA is Friday, the 28th, not Thursday.
Hopefully, it will be well attended by 49er fans, and not so many Bruin fans.

The season is upon us and the lady 49ers have a home and away vs UCLA this weekend. The opening match is this Thursday at the Mid followed by a Saturday match at UCLA. Both teams brought in some transfers that should start from day 1.
Every line up is soft at this time of the year but I expect the coaching staff will run out these players to start the season.
Lefts - Murray and Johnson
Right - Hamaker
Middles - Hope and Birkelbach
Backrow - Jelinek, Mahaffey, and Barsocchini
Setter - Maxwell
I am sure the staff is playing with a couple of different setter systems as well as possibly running the 2 libero again.
UCLA will be greatly improved this year but hopefully so will the 49ers. I expect both matches to be competitive and looking forward to some wins.
