Well, to no one's surprise, the dorms weren't completed on time and the students are staying in hotels "temporarily" while the buildings are being completed. That the dorms were not completed timely isn't bad enough, add insult to injury. The incoming students weren't told about this change of plans until they arrived yesterday (Sunday), their move-in day! Does anyone actually believe Apel didn't know earlier that the dorms weren't going to be ready on time? I would suggest Dr. Blanchard needs to review closely the people who report to him, starting with Apel...

Jane has been gone for too long for this to fall on her. Campus construction falls un Apel's purview, and he's obviously been too busy running Athletics into the ground to keep the trains moving on time.

Fall semester starts on August 24. Some students living on campus were assigned to the new resident hall, La Playa. The school expects the building to be ready for move in next week but does not guarantee it. The backup plan is for those students assigned to La Playa to stay in local hotels until the building is ready for occupancy.
How can the school allow this to come down to the wire? Very poor planning or management or both. Since the planning for this building started when Jane was still president, I think she bears the responsibility...
