Dear David,
My name is Minyon Moore, and I am incredibly honored to write to you as the ninth Head Women's Basketball Coach at Long Beach State University.
It is difficult to put into words what this opportunity means to me. Becoming the Head Coach of Long Beach State Women's Basketball is a responsibility I embrace with tremendous pride because of this program's rich tradition, the championship standard that has been established, and the countless players, coaches, alumni, and supporters who have built this legacy. My commitment is simple: to honor that tradition while leading our program back to the level of excellence that has defined Long Beach State Women's Basketball.
When I accepted this position in the middle of May, I knew the timing was unconventional. At that point, most programs already had their coaching staffs and rosters in place. That didn't slow us down. We immediately got to work. My first priority was assembling a group of people who not only possessed exceptional basketball knowledge but were even better people. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of helping rebuild two nationally successful programs, and I've learned that sustained success is built by great people who establish an elite culture every single day. I couldn't be more excited about the group that will serve as the foundation of our program for years to come.
Our 2026-27 Roster
Our freshman class is highlighted by four talented true freshmen: Ebony Taylor-Smith, Malia Taulani, Lucia Chico, and Lara Perian, along with walk-on Aryanna Reyes.
Ebony, a California native from Rancho Christian, is an elite shooter with a relentless work ethic. Malia joins us from South Medford High School in Oregon and is the definition of a player who impacts winning in every way. Lucia (Spain) and Lara (Romania) both bring impressive international experience, including national team and professional backgrounds, that will immediately strengthen our program. Aryanna, another California native, embodies the culture and commitment we value and will be a tremendous addition to our team.
Our sophomore class is led by Rosie Akot, our lone returning player from last season. Rosie's experience within our program and the Big West Conference will be invaluable as we establish our new culture. Joining her are redshirt sophomores Danijela "Dani" Kujovic and Noemi Arvai. Dani arrives from the University of Hawai'i after growing up in Australia, while Noemi transfers from Sacramento State and is originally from Hungary. Both bring valuable collegiate and international experience.
Our junior class features three players with diverse experiences. Kailyn Berry, originally from Oklahoma, joins us after an outstanding junior college career and brings tremendous versatility. Ashanti Dias, a Northern California native, has competed at both the junior college and Division II levels and is a true playmaking point guard. Sofia Proctor, from Washington, has valuable mid-major experience and will provide leadership and versatility in the post.
Our senior class is anchored by Amber Furch, a California native who brings Division II experience, toughness, and playmaking ability to our backcourt and will make an immediate impact on our team.
That completes our roster, and we couldn't be more excited about the group we've assembled.
Meet Our Staff
I'm equally excited to introduce the outstanding staff that will help lead our program.
Jeff Harada joins us as Associate Head Coach. His experience as a successful head coach, particularly within the Big West Conference, will be invaluable as we continue building this program.
Lexi Petersen, an Oregon alumna originally from Washington, joins our staff as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. She has built an outstanding reputation throughout the coaching profession and has extensive recruiting connections across the West Coast, the country, and internationally.
Kaylin Randhawa is a California native and joins us after coaching at Cal State Monterey Bay. Kaylin played for me during her collegiate career, and I witnessed firsthand the leadership qualities and work ethic that now make her an outstanding young coach.
Ashley Arroyo returns as our Director of Operations after serving in the role last season. Ashley's knowledge of Long Beach State and her ability to wear multiple hats have already been invaluable as we've welcomed so many new faces into our program.
I feel incredibly blessed to lead this group of student-athletes and staff. Although we have only been together for a short time, we have already begun building the relationships, habits, and culture that will serve as the foundation of our program for years to come. Summer workouts are well underway, and every day we're taking meaningful steps toward building something special.
Thank you for your continued support of Long Beach State Women's Basketball. This program has always been bigger than the people currently wearing the jersey or coaching on the sidelines. It belongs to every player, alumna, supporter, and fan who has helped shape its legacy.
We look forward to keeping you connected through future newsletters with program updates, fundraising opportunities, and exciting events throughout the year. Your continued support of our student-athletes and our vision is essential as we work together to restore this program to a championship level.
I can't wait to connect with each of you, grow alongside you, and build something special together. We are just getting started, and I truly believe the best days of Long Beach State Women's Basketball are still ahead of us.
Let's bring back the Legacy.
Go Beach!
