Pac-X trying to be the top of the heap
WCC trying to seperate itself, Mountain West as well trying to be 'better' than teh Pac-X
teh Big Sky has had their niche, which suits them well.
I just root for every school not in the Big West to fail financially lol aside from maybe Fresno State, I have no empathy for anything or much interest in the NCAA anymore, it's not an academically oriented endeavor these athletes (not students) are part of. I know college pro sports won't go away, it's just not interesting, there already is professional league options in every sport so COngress should just legislate out NIL and pay for athletes, and NCAA require waivers for every athlete so they can't ask for NIL or any payment. Back to schollies. It's not servitude, since they do have other options in sports to go pro in professional entities.
The idea the students are their own brand is only true to the extent their brand cannot exist without a Unviersity brand attached to them.
there's Europe pro, NBA pro, Minor League baseball, even Pro VB, if the student-athletes want to complain about 'being used' well then go pro and don't complain about the University not paying them. And I'm ok with the Universities not being allowed to market any merchandise with player names at the same time. won't happen lol.

IMO the western based conferences need to work together and come up with a plan that can maximize their potential. Probably need to have some alliances and scheduling agreements for regional tournaments, etc. There are no P4 western based conferences left and working together as a collective maybe keep things alive.

I'm enjoying all this chaos at the P4 level. The P4 schools did everything to squeeze mid and low majors out of virtually everything over the last 20 years. Now, the schools on the lower end of P4 are getting a taste of their own medicine. And, it will continue until about 32 P4 schools end up in a super conference. It would be nice if it's only for football, while allowing everyone to revert back to regional conferences but that probably won't happen because of $$$.
P4 schools and athletes did this to themselves. Athletes wanted to be paid, but they don't deserve it, at least how it is now. The original ruling which opened the door had to do with true NIL type deals. (If Cal Worthington paid Skyler Varga to appear at his dealership once a month or something and was paid for it), that's the type of deal it was originally for. It's turned into Joe Blow Oilman donating millions to an athletic program and funnelled to players with no real connection to NIL.
There's no chance for the Niners to ever get relevant in any sport besides men's volleyball (at least for now). I'll pay attention to most Niner sports for a while, but I can see losing interest in the near future.

So.... the NCAA basically has zero authority over any sport any longer with the recent TT ruling.
Virtually any athlete is now eligible and the NCAA can't stop 'em. I'm thinking Mike Trout and Shohei would do well in the BW. Want to bring Cantlay to the golf team? why not? Im thinking there is a BUNCH of D1 25-30 yr old hoop talent laying around wanting to play again. LFG!
Now is the time for some mid-major school to the throw caution to the wind and to REALLY test the lack of boundaries to do whatever it takes to recruit questionable athletes in a variety of all sports.
Here's looking at YOU Long Beach State!!!! You literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Do you have the courage to make a bold leap? OR will you stay pat and do nothing... Yea I know Vegas has the "do nothing" option at -10,000 but still, one can hope.
