it's not like interviewing is a skill necessary developed in Sports Management field
no excuse, just not surprised at any hire this guy would do.
still Bob Williams was a successful D2 coach, Pat Douglas,. and succesful Juco coaches (Tarkanian, Boyd Grant), and assistant coaches. There is no formula. Depends on how they go about their process. Who knows with this AD, he exhibited familiarity bias we know from his SDSU hires. That's not good generally.
have to wonder who would even want to coach, having to recruit 13 players every year, vs 3-5 lol.

There is no formula for success. Reynold's record and legacy was much worse than Wayne Morgan's.
This AD has very little experience with the entire interview and hire process, and worse, he seems to have pretty bad judgement about what skills are important or required.
There are usually very qualified people in every candidate pool. It takes effort and time to screen them, interview them and find the right fit. That's too much trouble for Smitheran.

I don't know much about her other than what's in her bio but it most likely won't work out. I'll keep an open mind, but hiring a P4 assistant (like Amy) just isn't the right fit these days for a low-major like us. This is like when we hired Wayne Morgan who was an assistant at Syracuse. Coaching at TCU or Syracuse and at the Niners is like night and day. I don't think these P4 assistants know what's going to hit them...I know they just want their first crack at head coaching. Hiring a local successful D2 head coach, like Cal Poly Pomona's Danelle Bishop would have been my choice. They know how a build a team annually with many new players. Good luck to Minyon but I don't think this will pan out, like most of Slytherin's hires.
