I think it says more about how disorganized this event was as well as naive and ineffective USA VB and whoever was. All fluff and no show. Would be interesting to get from Speraw what went down, and be frank about it.
It was to do a 'test drive' for the 2028 Olympics and promote VB for OC and the Honda. It's pretty obvious the HOnda Center didn't need or want that. Maybe USA VB thought they could get a 'freebee' tossed their way.
It was going to pay NIL money. I mean, 72 athletes, say $1.5 each average. that's $100k. Obviously nobody was going to belly that amount up, more naivety
the idea of Big West vs. MPSF top teams was fantastic, the thing is it didn't need either NIL or HOnda to make it happen, could have taken place on one or two sites (Galen or PYramid), and not conflict with Basketball. More lack of foresight
in the end looks like Beach will play @ UCLA as usual, so not that much of a biggie
hindsght is 2020, just another demonstration of trying to do too much when too much didn't need to be done.
If USA VB was leading the charge, they had an epic swing and a miss.
can imaging some Hawaii fans forked out money to travel for it, and left in the lurch.

Says a lot about the stature of men's volleyball in the NCAA when you can't get enough money for the top four teams in the country...

the entire thing fell apart.
for now, Beach schedule now has @ UCLA on Feb. 20, so back to the traditional home and home with UCLA.
wanted to see us play USC this year.
that tourney needed a lot of money for what they were trying to do. Hawaii points the finger at USA VB et. al.
