never know much about any recruiting any more, so many things fluid.
as bad as last year was, this year is a great advertisement for what a frosh and a reboot (Petar) and a D2 (Diaz) can do. and the way this team is playing is pretty good.
I have not seen better textbook defensive postures at Long Beach, never with Monson getting an entire team to body up with straight backs and cutting off a lot of drives, even if some get by.
Cobb, Casper Slater - other than that, few.
the entire squad has taking defensive posture seriously. last year I'm beginning to understand why Acker was yelling so much lol.
hopefully the trajectory continues with these guys, my main worry is becoming Sykes getting too fatigued for a frosh. Why I hope Bender can just assimilate better. Haven't seen these types of minutes since Caffey's senior year, and right about end of January he and the team faded, after Caffey had a sensational start that year.

Acker was fortunate to sign both Sykes and Washington during the early signing period. Could you imagine if they had waited until the spring signing period, knowing how bad Acker's first season was? I doubt they would have signed...

it's hard to argue with Newman
if you've ever been near Newman, the guy yells! lol
maybe not as piercing as Acker
as to restock. I think Acker has shown to do that pretty well this year with Petar and Sykes in particular. a total rebuild. also is showing he can teach, which was one of my chief complaints with Monson. And Acker got a marque guy Askew last year and Sykes this year. granted the overall record is not good. yep, if they can beat Hawaii or IRvine that would be good, I don't consider any of the others including UCSD to be all that great, this year.
DeGeorge brought over 4 players last year so he really didn't re-stock, he had a running start credit to him for bringing those 4 who are all gone btw this year.
the Poly team to me is a bit of a gimmick strategy with that style, and Big West teams had a year to see it. they could get hot for some games, but no D, not close to what Acker has taught this year
It's hard to argue about Newman though.

Here are their cumulative stats:
Newman
Total Record at CSUN 52-35
Big West Record 27-21
DeGeorge
Total Record at Cal Poly 23-31
Big West Record 11-16
Acker
Total Record at LBSU 15-36
Big West Record 7-20
I’m presuming you’re polling on their potential and not what has transpired since the latter is pretty obvious (Newman, hands down). While Acker has turned the narrative around in his 2nd year, we don’t know whether he can replace star players from year to year and still win. Heck, we haven’t even seen his team beat any of the top Big West teams, unless you consider CSUN as such. I think at this point, Newman has to be the choice. He has built 3 teams from scratch and molded them into at least mid-level Big West teams. He doesn’t seem to have the one elite talented player that he had last year (Marcus Adams) but they are still quite competitive.

Newman (North)
DeGeorge (Poly)
Acker (Beach)
we've seen the products last year and now this year.
