IMO DMX does not move his feet well.
His height and span and jumping I think cover up some fundamentals.
maybe he's still got some lingering leg issues.
Chaikovsky moves his feet, just his skill/athletic is isn't there.
would be interesting to know what is going on inn Acker's head, maybe part imparting lessons and combo with DMX limiting time. just do not know. We saw DMX could dominate the boards. some rebounds he can simply outreach an opponent, just he hs to develop lateral quickness IMO

Good analysis. I would just add if we had DMX for 20-30 minutes we could be better than middle of the pack. Why he is getting so few minutes is the biggest mystery we have had around here for years.

thought this might not be a good match up with Poly's ability to bombard 3s in streaks
good game plan by Acker, pounded Poly inside, and even though Poly made up Beach's 2s with 3s for awhle, kept pounding away and especially denied Poly inside while covering 3s well (aside from #3 who went a bit wild) . Bandelj, one of Poly's streaky scores was reduced to vertually nothing with 2 points in 30 minutes, could ot get off good looks and denied him drives to the hoop. best shutdoen of an opposing player this year.
Petra was magnificent. had his way, great shot choices, kicked out, and especially that inside feed to Washington when double teamed was good stuff. Hopefully gets the POW selection - he earned it
Farrel. maybe one of his best games, off loaded and took advantage going to hoop, when Sykes and petra were the focus, when we have a 3rd scoring option like that, it's huge
overall the Defense really played well, to have a 25 point lead and Poly with only 43 points with like 10 minutes left is not something teams do to Poly. granted the chipping away and end was agaonizing - mostly so many poor offense sets as played 'not to lose'
Diaz defensively - really good stuff, had some poor attempts and 3 pt shot off, but the pace of the offense for first 30 minutes was really good.
kind of hard to see how this translates, since Poly is unique, just these recent games vs. UCSB, San Diego, UCSD, and this show talent and play that is at least middle of the pack Big West with a higher ceiling.
now just really need some specific development on end of game reacting to frantic pressure better, the guys are capable of ball movement, they show that over the course of the game, so get spacing and movement and recognize that pressure.
good news this is not last year, we have better team speed overall on the perimeter even without some 6'6" slasher on the team.
