if WBB won 4 games, would seem like a monumental achievement
Massey says we are 320 out of 360 teams, and actually favored in 4 conference games.
Cal Poly is rated 311.
for the Men, it's really tough, I could see us winning as few as 2, or as many as 9, simply because the bottom half of the league we can compete. Massey has the men favored in 5 games, and winning 7. WInning more based on a pretty high upside, and I think we've seen pretty much close to the floor. I'll say 7-13 trying to be optimistic, squeeze into a 8 seed, and pull out a 1st round win over a 5 seed, lol. sad that that scenario would be 'success' lol.
maybe too influenced by the UCSB and SJSU away games where one bounce in each game gives the team two decent wins.
tonight just looking how the bigs play, and I would try to have Sykes under instructions to be pass and defense focused, and not look to score, and a game to get everyone but Sykes in the flow and scoring. tonight is to to get a rhythm for Saturday
now for predictions of a better sort. MVB: saying 20-6, 7-3 in conference going in to the Big West tournament.
have 8 games vs top 6 teams (Irvine 2x, Hawaii 2x, UCLA 2x, USC, & Pepp). 4-4 would be pretty good this year, to be realistic those are all good teams
then see how the team setting and passing develop during the season, and blocking with a shorter setter

I was lucky but accurate in my non-conference predictions for MBB...predicting 4 wins. Now, on to conference predictions for both mens and women.
MBB 3-17 (likely squeeze out a victory at home against Bakersfield, Fullerton and Poly or Riverside)
WBB 1-19 (victory at home against either UCR or Cal Poly)
MBB - I know the men's prediction seems a little harsh given they've been playing much better in the last month. I'll be rooting for them to win more, but they just can't seem to play 40 minutes without a large gap where they play horribly...inevitably losing the game.
WBB - I kind of feel like 1 win is being generous towards Coach Amy's squad. They've done nothing to even merit a 1 win prediction in conference but I feel like they'll have some good luck somewhere. I hope for Coach Amy's sake, she taps into her midwest or southern connections and gets an assistant position after this season which will likely pay her more than the Niners. Riding out the 5 year contract might affect her ability to get a decent assistant position in the future.
