She played an excellent match. Good passing helped, but her set selection was superb. I remember seeing her at our matches, as a little girl, when her mother, Joy, was the coach. She'd be batting the ball back and forth with her father, Matt, after the matches.
Also got a glimpse of Jessica Alvarado on the Texas bench, serving as a player development consultant. Jessica was one of my favorite players for Long Beach. She was a starting OH, along with Anya Grabovatz, on our 1998 National Championship team. She scored two of the last three points in the fifth set, on huge kills, to propel the team to the National Championship win over Penn State. Veronica Walls put down Championship point off a great back set from the great Misty May.
Joy McKienzie was our starting setter on the 1993 National Championship team. They also beat Penn State.
Those were the days.

Charlie Fuerbringer is an impeccable setter (for Wisconsin) pretty much in control over Texas up 2-0

could join Knipe and Knipe as parent/child to win a NC and get to a semifinal (3 x for the Knipes, alas no natty for junior).
