Like most years recently, UCSB has more higher rated talent than the Niners. For example, Aidan Mahaney was one of the top players in the portal last year. He had 2 good seasons at St. Mary's but wanted to play at an even higher level, so he transferred to UConn. That didn't work out as planned but he's still probably the best player in the Big West. However, that hasn't always translated into a lot of wins...in fact, the Gauchos seem to underperform based on the "talent" on their roster. Mahaney will be the X factor in this game. I don't think the Niners have played against a PG as good as him. If they don't control him, it could be another rout.
Game being in SB, my prediction is 85-62 (Gauchos). Previous Message
it just does not seem right, Beach is a 7 point underdog
for one SB has played a really soft schedule, even softer than Beach.
SB has not beat a top 100 team, and as well they do not have a bad loss (Portland) like Beach has.
just seems low, but will see what Vegas says.
