Now, why do servers wipe the soles of their shoes??

here's one list of signalshttps://volleyballvault.com/volleyball-setter-hand-signals/
one unique play the team has developed over the course of the season is when Agi is on the left, they'll run her inside more (like closer to a MB attack position), given Agi's shotmaking skills and vision the more they can move her around the more lethal she's become
Gimmarillo used to run a 'double quick' where they'd bunch the MB & OH adjacent to each other, then the set can be to either MB or OH, the two can just offset the time of their jumps and even though the block is near both the blockers will usually mistime their jumps and be confused. don't think we run that any more
the other add good to see is been running more Logan King backrow attacks from the center, had been running from the right side and she's awesome with that. the team really needs a solid attack with King in back row to avoid opponents stacking the left side when King rotates back. Reagan has a tendency to pull King for Collins to have Collins set and have Mad Max attack from the right - although I cringe lately when that happens. Hate pulling King out she's arguably the top or 2nd best attacker in the conference and can't stand to see her on the bench even if she's in the back-row

A great performance after last week's poor results. Mahaffey had a very good night with her digs. She is now anticipating much better than earlier in the season.
I have several questions about signals and "mannerisms" by the players. What is the signal the setters display and what is the signal the hitters display behind there back? Why do players wipe the soles of their shoes?
