The L2 is a real problem now with Hamaker and Anebel both struggling at the same time putting balls down. Coach decided to redshirt the other freshman so no other real options when those two are not playing well.
Maxwell is a great all around player but right now she is upper tier as a setter. She can really hit and dig balls but this is her first year at this position and her location and timing can be all over the place.
The freshman liberos are solid but are up and down at times and that is expected as freshman.
The most consistent players have been Agi and King and both have carried the team to big wins. These two need to be at the top of their game if LBSU has a chance to win against the upper tier BW teams.
The team's early success had us believe they were probably better than they really were but we have to remember there is not much prior D1 experience on the floor. The middles are seniors but barely saw court time in their previous years, the setter is in her first year at that position and only a sophomore, King is a freshman, both backrow liberos are freshman, and the Hamaker at the L2 is also only a freshman. The only starters with significant prior year court time is Agi and Maxwell at another position.
With that said, it's late in the season and the team is fading a bit. The ladies hit a wall several weeks back and need to raise their level the last few weeks of the season. The freshman are no longer green and need to pick up their game and play with more consistency and the coaching staff needs to find a way to elevate the team's performance through training, the right lineup, and during match coaching.
The conference tournament is at LBSU so plenty of time left to improve and will have the home court advantage.

team looked better for the most part
some observations
1) please not another 4th place finsih, lol
2) Agi & King were tremendous, and was great to see Reagan stop her panic attacks when King goes to the back court,...
3) well 4th set Reagan went to panic mode, yanked King and a 5 point deficit turned into an 11 point defiict, lol
4) I've noticed Reagan seems to go for the quick hook. quick challenges (she lost all 4 this weekend I believe, and ran out when she needed them). uses here time-outs sometimes in response to losing a point or two trying to side out. which also led to her using a challenge for a TO (Yuk I hate that) and then didn't have a challenge when she needed it, and quick to go to the 6-2, which yeah did work vs. UCSD, but since then, not really a fan, it sure failed miserably this weekend.
4) not sure if Sheffie is injured, nto a good week, bright side is Yates got some playing time and nice swings
5) block and defense had troubles, not getting touches, SB out dug us by a mile, I really though Mahaffey really struggled to dig some digable balls
kind of expected
with a top 2 seed probably a pipe dream now, wonder if maight give a couple of players some rest for a couple of games, team seems a bit gimpy, Hamaker and Sheffie were MIA most of week.
gonna find out next couple of week what improvement can be had. there was a lot of good VB vs. SB the team (and Coach) have to learn to work thru situations. bottom line is the block was slow and back court needs a bit more precision
