Monson may have been a good guy, but he built up NOTHING. NADA
that is what Acker inherited, heck, that is what Monson would have faced had he had yet another year, a depleted roster - with guys chasing NIL
as miserable as this is, it's eons better than the alternate we would have faced, with a coach that needed to be fired to light a fire. before being fired, he had a team that could somehow go into Michigan and USC and win, yet when the Pyramid was packed for Irvine, he got ROLLED and embarrased that last, losing withering 5 straight 'must win' games before he got canned
sheesh enough, 7th place, 8th place during that withering era where the drip drip drip of the program was occuring
that Acker is making some wist for the days of being able to chat or golf with 'buddie Dan' does reinforce how hard this is. Then again, had a Rod Palmer before we had Joe Harrington. who knows.
Monson was not the answer, if he was he would have shown he could win a 'big game' a post season game, could have built up SOMETHING, he did not, so geez, nostalgia for Dan ok whatever.
so yeah, very glad the program has moved on, Dan minus that 2024 core could actually have been worse whether people want to accept that or not

Both the men and women's coach have several years to go on their contracts. Don't know how long our clueless AD's contract runs. Things are likely to get a whole lot worse before they get better. I know everyone on both boards loved to slam Dan but I kept quiet because I know him. He was good friends and golf buddies with one of the senior partners in my firm. He's a good guy and I wonder if any of the posters on either board are feeling any regrets. You get what you ask for.

we get open 3s, and the shooting form of players looks ok. they just cannot hit 3s.
we do not have a guard that can control the game.
the earlier defensive intensity just faded and completely gone 2nd half - that's not good
it's early in season, just this is way too rough - the lack of offense will kill the defense again.
