what were those reasons?
we aren't getting $8.5 mil right now, the deal is likely getting around $700k next year then going up wiht some inflation every year.
this is good
would not rule out other potential naming rights for the future, this would be one of the largest
the biggest potential for naminig rights is actually for one of the schools
such as "Honda or Space X School of Engineering" should that ever occur, and if so, the school should get an appropriate value.
UCLA's school of engineering naming went for $30 mil in 1999 it would go for maybe $150-200 million today.
if 6 of LBSU's schools were able to negotiate naming rights, the endowment could literally be increased to 6 x $25 million, or $150 million, unless they discounted that severely to get a donation. that alone would double the endownment which has been woefully low historically. Doubt that will happen, but it could be significant.
That would be a major goal I would think for the University.

There are reasons that no deal was made previously for the pyramid or the College of Business. I guess this deal is better than no deal. So we should take the money and run, and try to make it last as long as possible, as it is probably the last chance to bring this cash in. Caveat: if LB can get 2 or 3 winning teams in the pyramid, the cost to sponsor will go up greatly, but if things go the other way, this is the last chance for financial survival, as future CSU budgets are shrinking.

SDSU, verijas was $6 mil over 10 years (that was in 2009, experied in 2019
Dollar loan center in Nevada, purportedly was $84 million over 22 years ($4 mil per year) but that has been terminated, so DLC obviously did not think the value was there. Not sure that number is acurrate.
Now here is the real eye opener.
The Matadome has a $8.3 mil deal over 10 years, so in that sense the updated Pyramid deal seems undervalued, a larger more iconic venue I would have expected more. Granted probably some 'good will' towards the LBS Credit Union with the association with LBSU.

Only took 30+ years to finally get a corporate sponsor for the Pyramid. I don't know how much credit Smitheran or Interim Prez Jones gets for this but well done. Lets just hope all the new money is not needed to fix or replace the roof.
