WCC currently has 12 members, but lose Gonzaga, OSU, and WSU after this season, leaving 9. They add UCSD and Denver to make 11. If St. Mary's gets an invite to the Pac or MWC, that makes 10. If this any indication, they may be targetting major metropolitan cities, like Denver and San Diego. I don't know if Irvine or Santa Barbara meet that criteria, if it is one. Seems to me they should have pursued Sac State, since that's become a major metro area in the last 15 years. Don't think there are any other schools meeting that criteria in the western region...

UCSD was unexpected but this was expected. University of Denver will be moving to the WCC. Don't know if the Big West will retain it's current members or whether the WCC sees an opportunity to poach a couple of additional UC schools...
