Knipe's even keelness has been remarkable


he's had his share of dectractors and the first half to his tenure was one of 'can't win the big one' label.

the 2004 NCAA final where they had 3 match points, only to fall to BYU, granted BYU was the better team,

the 2012 Olympics, was going to plan, then a serve-receive letdown in a quarter final loss to Italy, and no medal

they 2014, and the Crabb year, beat Irvine in MPSF semis, and as it turned out could not beat BYU in Provo to get to the NCAAs

then 2017, looked like that legit National Title contendor, veteran MBs and libero , and then that TJ soph year team layed a big fat egg in the NCAA semis vs. BYU

2018 - it finally happened, even as it teetered on the edge in that 4th set down big to UCLA late. Sports is a game of inches, UCLA getting maybe one more serve in and it's a different story - a loss there would have been hard pyschologically. That 2018 win will always be the favorite. @ Pauley in their house and exorcised a lot of LBSU & Knipe deamons. & Beach fans were there in force to the consternation of the smug UCLA crowd.

that 2018 match to me like lifted a huge load off for Knipe to spur this massive success and titles and POY.
