Not sure if this qualifies based on your parameters but I just can not stand hearing announcers say "Long Beach State Beach". Just gives the school a real mascot. I still want 49ers but if that is not coming back then make it a shark. However, make it a tough looking shark like a great white and not the weak elbe that I have seen around.

not counting the Shark as a marketing ploy, that was simply a change due to destroying the prior mascot.
The "The Beach is Hot" marketing plug, lol that was so ridiculous if those that can remember that ad during games in the 90s. didn't really promote much just was like someone said, let's make this promo 'sizzle'!
The Beach Ball at games at the Pyramid. more funny though. the guy rolling around a big beach ball nside the Pyramd during breaks. just a crack up. I guess since BG had players for awhile practice in a bubble, some tie in. wa slike wtf watching that Ball mascot roll around the floow
No Barriers. ugh, two negatives as your banner s Marketing 101 no no. on top, Jane's funny numbers and BS associated with it was inexcusable. still admin has not come clean on what was actually 'raised'. scuttled early, duh, before the planned ending. wonder why!
and no Anchor's Away or whatever this roll out is. just can't make this stuff up.
just like why is Beach so possesed and cursed with horrible knowledge of branding?!
