Long Beach State Athletics!: to clarify about Beach VB NC

the Beach VB team had a fantastic season, and going to Gulf Shores was great.

what I was alluding to was Long Beach won the bid to host @ Huntington Beach for the 25 & 26 National Championships

the School, AD, dropped the ball and in February the NCAA was alarmed about the preparations, and pulled the NCs back to Gulf Shores

the Big West teams lost an opportunity to play in front of their fans and the Beach lost the prestige

it was CRICKETS about what happened. The AD didn't say squat. basically the school F cked up. There was no excuse. Yes, one was given, they blamed it on the Palisades fire, sheesh, for a tourney in OC.

total BS, total lack of communication. the ball was dropped for some specific reasons we'll probably never hear the truth

embarrasing for Long Beach, disgusting frankly for this AD the way it just 'went away'

frankly by what has happened it appears this AD doesn't give a squat about Olympic sports and Volleyball - there's just no vision coming out right now with the 3 anchors running things

562 is PAID a sponsorship fee by Athletics. Looks at their site. They are #####d out house organs anymore as the 3 of them tey to beat out os living. So no investigative help left with PT dead.

kind of a strange feeling. can't remember ever heading into a year thinking there is absolutely no expectations of wining pretty much anything

almost bizarre.

the coaching exodus, the admin leadership vaccum with basically ZERO trusted admin among the Pres, VP, and AD. absolutely ZILCH.....just incredible for a University to be rudderless

and now accustomed to a expecting every student-athlete to bail

I mean, delighted that Mad Max & Agi are still on the WVB team.

to me, the #1 excitement is seeing if Reagan can grow as a coach and add toughness. heck, won't be surprised anywhere from #2 to #10 (really, #10) but that's the state of things now. #1 is really far fetched with all the holes to fill

for MBB, WBB, WVB I mean the only promise is all the other Big West teams are now getting gutted every year.

MBB? kind of like Reagan, but lower expectations. I just do not know how much Acker was able to learn and transform over these 6 months between season. There's nothing impressive to me about the roster, albeit I have no clue anyway now with this overhaul. I have a hard time believing we have an Askew that could literally keep the team in almost every league game.

the AD? yikes!! Hilt-Costello 's comments are pretty clear. and the leadership void over the Beach VB NC fiasco is telling.

so will enjoy what can be enjoyed.

MVB is 5 months away!! they'll be good, KNipe keeps the players coming back, and it'll be exciting even if not the circus that Moni created, hard to top that. Varga is a beacon this year among our student athletes. calm, dedicated, talented, and provided the consistant leadership to complement Moni's excitable talent.

looking forward to watching some matches, hoping for some pleasant surprises.

frankly, still looking for #1 some direction at the top, and for the 562 to do a hard hitting interview with Smitherin and a hard hitting interview with Apel, and one with Hilt-Costello. if nothing else those two guys have a LOT of explaining to do, and there are doubts they can actually explain anything since they are aware of the short-comings and have done nothing to convince anyone they have a plan other than holding on to their jobs, ...sigh

maybe Soccer can surprise and then sustain!
