Setting the salary simply means approving the hire and the employment contract. It would happen the same way regardless of who was hired. Jane is gone already—she probably has 3 months of vacation to be paid off in a lump sum, so a President starting in 2 months isn’t really that disruptive. The provost is probably interim President right now, and if he’s not the new President, will continue as Interim President until the new one arrives. Previous Message
I "voted" for current CSU/UC academic for one reason only. If the CSU Board of Trustees has setting the salary for the next LBSU president on the agenda for next week, it means that the person is already on campus (current provost, Dr. Gunn) or is local, like someone from CSUN, CSUF, CSULA or UCI, or in other words someone who can take the reins in very short order. If the announced president is someone who has to resign from their current position and relocate to Long Beach, that would take a minimum of 3 to 4 months.
