What did it used to mean to be called a "mid major"?
- Your mens CBB team made noise in March Madness on a consistent basis OR your mens CBB team would play top 10 teams close and win on occasion.
- Your CFB team would travel and maybe beat top conf ranked teams on the road.
- Your mens baseball team would beat P5 teams or was feared by P5 teams in regular series and in the world series because your team was a regular contributor.
To a lesser extent.. in "minor" sports your school was highly competitive
Now with NIL and the TP... kids are nothing but 7-9 month rentals and ALL are always on the look out for the bigger paycheck. There is no more school loyalty. There is no more program building. There is no more developing of a prospect in the hope he/she develops in 3-4 years bc the second they show ANY progress, guess who leaves? bingo.
Unless you have an NIL budget of $5mm/yr ++ and a TV contract, you really need to lower your expectations regarding W/L's against other schools that HAVE these resources.
Otherwise you end being the "The one legged man in an A$$ kicking contest" and wondering why you can't win.
LB is a nice lower division D1 school like about 200 other schools with little to no resources trying to compete against the big boys.
Sucks to be us right now.

The structure in place was a Jane doing and budget problems/needs. The new President will inherit every thing and everybody. I just hope that he/she (I hope more for he) will have athletics a one of the top priorities. NCAA athletics are screwed up and we are in the middle of it, just like all the mid majors. Who knows what cards the AD has to play. Hope is eternal and I hope for a new leader who can lead.
