My take: I like the two freshman coming in (Sykes and Washington) but meh about the portal transfers coming in. Here's why:
1) There's a couple of transfers with good D1 experience (Lewis and Bender) but the others don't.
2) Where are the wings? We have 9 guys 6'4 and under and 4 guys 6'8 and taller. So far, no one in the 6'6- 6'7 range. Are we going to a 3 or 4 guard offense?
3) Why so many point guards, maybe 5 on this roster? Is Hart Jr not coming back? Diaz, Alexander and Gondrezick look too small (frame and weight) to be effective in the Big West. Check out the guards from the UC schools and they're all big framed and tough.
4) Why pick up 2 D1 big men (Majstorovic and Johnson) who barely played last year? Granted that they have potential, but I'd rather have highly productive lower D1, D2 or JUCO guys that can produce right away. Remember, we're likely only going to have many of these guys for a year.
Overall, I'd give this recruiting effort a C. Sykes and Washington may play right away but the portal transfers are question marks. Looks like Acker still hasn't learned his lesson.
