need someone that can actually embrace Long Beach, the city, academic excellence, and ahtletics and the arts, and yes diversity in a meaningful way.
Diversity is great, there's no need to lecture on it ad nauseum like Jane in an attempt to placate some abstract thing that didnt' even exist in her reality. you can't force diversity, one can embrace it via excellence. Jane never got that or came remotely close.

Until they recruit and select the best person based on real credentials and not on woke criteria as with JCP, we're going to end up with a clone of her. JCP had the weakest credentials, by far, of any past LBSU president and it's apparent why. I want a search where the best person is selected and we also see who the other finalists were, which is how they did it in the past, when they were trying to select the best person. I wouldn't mind seeing King Alexander back. I know he's had a few bad things happen to him at LSU and Oregon State, but he can redeem himself, and he's still like 15 years younger than JCP! to answer the question, limited. we finally saw the stark reality when 4 players left last year, who WERE NOT GOING TO STAY NO MATTER WHAT, for NIL money.
unfortunately, MBB had atrophied interest wise. Jane has been AWOL since Covid, the AD was hamstrung, and prior MBB coach never did squat to facilitate any enthusiasm or structure for NIL. and puuuhhheeeeze do not want to hear more excuses about CDM that it wasn't his job. enough.
Acker has a total re-build, including to somehow drum up NIL support. Even $25k a year for the program would at least let him compete. with nothing, he's simply offering a chance to try out for future NIL.
the 18 year olds and even some 2 and 3 year college players have warped views of their value and prospects.
not sure how Acker will do it. #1 it needs a President to first eliminate this VP buffer between the President and the AD
then needs to rebuild the entire fan/alum base, where people will feel confident to donate to both the program and NIL
anyone can read on these boards, the sentiment about NIL and about being turned off or ignored or marginalized by Jane, Monson, Fee, this VP oversight structure, on and on....and on top of that no patience for a 1st year coach doing some OTJ training, who actually did have his players playing hard (aside from Fullerton 2nd game), albeit disjointed.
we just have to wait for July 1st, probably by next spring to see what type of PResident LB gets. and unfortunately for Acker, & Smitherin, they do not have anyone above them to articulate leadership in sports. hard to do your job when the job constraints do not match the job expectations Previous Message
I do not know if some of these 'internet NIL pays' out there are real. I know NIL is out there, just I do think there's a lot of 2nd hand rumoring on actual numbers at the mid major level Previous Message
From all available information, we have negligible NIL amounts to offer recruits. We even lost Justin Rochelin to UCSD for $80,000 or thereabouts during the last transfer portal period. So, assuming (alumnus) Palmer Leucky doesn't suddenly take an interest in LBSU athletics, this situation is not going to improve anytime soon. I know all the focus is on Acker at the moment, but is there actually a path to recruiting good players without NIL? Do we need an all international team, since they aren't eligible to work? Maybe focus on JUCO guys? I'm hoping we find a path but I'm skeptical...
