how can anyone not want to go to school there? best college green ever, that grassy mesa overlooking the ocean, what a pregame sunset, no wonder Pepperdine got like 3 or 4 Euros to come to paradise. one of my favorite gyms, next to Pyramid and War Memorial @ Univ of SF. old school
Lindero Canyon was just scalded from the Malibu side of the Santa Monica's to Pepperdine, eeire stuff, scorched everything from top to bottom, and how the fires jumped to literally across PCH and down to across the street from $10 M+ ocean homes is just crazy
didn't even notice Nagy wasn't playing. hope it's not grades, do not even recall seeing him there at all?. Lloyd's leg still a bit gimpy. Could use him for depth at some point, just do not think he's missed as has to learn to play unrushed. Wondering if we'll also ever see Hart, Jr. this year and he'll medical RS.
as bad as Acker was getting panned like people thought he couldn't coach 3 weeks ago, lol, there's teaching and learning going on.
no better example than Lewis. has taken instruction on defense to heart, his progress in the last 4 games is remarkable. busting his butt on defense, he was blanketing and making Odom work a ton. yeah, still needds to know what a good 3 is and to slow down and pick the spots. I do not think he could have developed like this with the prior staff. that follow up 2, to a missed 3 was good stuff
Richardson. like an entirely new player, when Austin wasn't in rhythm and with fouls. still needs to learn how to pick without moving (like close to 4-5 moving screen fouls), he looked like a different player out there
DMX, solid game on boads
best quote of the night. yeah, Acker is a screamer, gonna have to learn how to temper that some. "When are you gonna learn?" at Denson, funny stuff. yes when is Denson gonna learn to be consistent or consistent at FTs, lol. one beauty then the next back to clanging the back rim again, lol
on a night when Askew struggled some, Austin struggled, Martin struggled a lot, those 3 guys came up big, along with Wainright of course.
good prep for Northridge and Poly, as Pepperdine did try to play a lot up tempo.
Wainright and Tordovic (sic) put on a show trading haymakers. that last 3 by Tordovic on a catch and turn and shoot with Askew's hand in his face was an unbelievable shot. the team didn't let him get anywhere close to another look after that, for good reason.
Incredible good stuff & shooting display by those two, and Wainright also a couple crazy good passes and lots of boards.
Pepperdine did not look to be as bad a team as their record, cannot fathom how they lost to Fullerton. maybe missing players?
still, can't have two silly stupid obvious Ts in front of refs, even if kind of ticky-tack stuff, could have cost the game. they have to call those.
and still need better block-outs, too many O boards by Pepperdine, it's tough with the way we pressure outside.
just good to watch consistently better defense thru-out a game.
UC Riverside is gonna be the real test now. Well coached solid team. Hoping we are 5-6 point underdogs yet again, those odds seems to be working every time!!! at some points the wise guys may wise up, but who cares.
