Wtf? Yes, that new Era is called Permanent Mediocrity, and you are it’s new leader. Previous Message
I am enjoying and going to enjoy this MBB season. Yeah, it's tough. We get a chance to watch a journey, a really hard one. The players play hard. Kam Martin had his best game. There are frosh playing major minutes. Have bigs busting their butt to figure out how to contribute. It is so much more enjoyable this year, it really is, than the last decade. Will not go back and list why. We get to watch an engaged coach grow and figure things out. We know he's not perfect, lol. We get anticipation of changes and a restart before the conference starts, and yes, with lowered expectations of this year, but not lowered standards. We get to watch Askew figure out how best he can lift a team. We get to watch Denson figure out how to not hit the back of the rim on a FT, lol. All that is good stuff. We don't know the final result, and that's ok. Just because it is challenging does not dampen the enthusiasm of the journey.
We got to watch another coach grow and learn, and have the confidence of placed on her, without question trying to figure things out on the job, and fantastic to see someone communicate and motivate and facilitate, while of course not possessing all the knowledge that only comes with time. Seeing a coach not encumbered by patterns of stubborness, and promoting the program and athletes. There is something to be said for figuring things out. It's hard. And fantastic to not know the how it will unfold, which is sure to have obsticles.
Three new coaches in marquee sports, we knew this new era was coming, and some more legends to transition in the next 5 or so years and nothing is certain but the apparent positive qualities these coaches possess and will impart on the athletes, and are what drives enthusiasm and will ultimately lead to a new and different era. It's a time of opportunity for Beach, one that is new and different and exciting, and certainly to be grateful to witness and support. It will be hard, and the hard part is what makes it fun.
