the last string of points for MBB and the first string of points for WVB was some of the most lopsided scoring ever. Fresno had a 14 point scoring run and WVB had 14 point scoring run.
the positive:
Cam Denson did not miss a FT!!
Lewis saw some action, got some nice buckets
Nagy keeps making positive contributions, and now was hitting buckets. one player devoid of brainfarts
3 pt shooting. I like this teams ability to hit 3s and the type of 3s they take. we take solid 3s, and were clobbering Fresno when not turning the ball over, regardless of fouls
the bad:
to state the obvious. Turnovers. fouls didn't bother me as much, that will be fixed, half-step slow fouls mostly, credit Fresno
for a team predicated on defense, we defend, just not as agressive
thought the key stretch (aside from that epic end) was losing the lead when we threw away 2 passes under are own bucket for those school-yard steals by Fresburg, couple with Lewis dribbling off his leg on a break on a 'are you kidding me' moment.
all in all, the main thing isn't this team is horrific (ok, maybe), it's confidence and these close calls can wear on a team. We do have 3 frosh (Nagy, Martin, Rock-Jr.) playing majore roles although Nagy is probably the most reliable player along with Askew.
not sure again what people expected this year. this was always a mish-mash of guys that haven't practically actually played D1, aside from Denson and Austin.
lift weights, keep the posture on defense, - have to credit Fresno, they kept up being aggressive, Fresno gave SB a game as well.
Ackers has challenges, 3 games this week that are all winnable, and likely to also be more nail-biters. man, can't imagine Askew playing 37 minutes each game.
when will Hart, Jr. be back? not saying he's the total answer just that he played Ackers like defense last year, and could spell Askew for at least 4-5 more minutes a game.
