Beach is only one of two teams in the field with a winning record vs. the field:
Records vs the Field:
Poly: 4-4
Hawaii: 7-3 (7-1 vs the top 5 seeds)
Davis: 5-5 (0-4 in last 4 matches)
Beach: 5-4
UCSD: 4-5
Irvine: 3-6
3rd straight year finishing in dreaded 4th place, lol.
with the 6-2, teams are going after our pins more on serve, and both Karich & Mad Max have a few stretches with poor returns.
last night the Opps struggled, but the two lefts had our best left side attack of the season.
had in interesting sub to bring in Meyer at teh Opp for O-Reilly for a rotation.
If Beach beats SD( for a 3rd time), then get a crack at #1 Poly. and god willing, a 3rd crack at Hawaii for the exorcism.
was good to Karich, Giambi, and Meyer all have stellar matches to finish off the year.
still hoping Meyer decides to return. Even if she enters teh portal, who knows what will entail. both UCLA & USC & LMU setters are graduating, and they'll all be looking for an established setter. Crystal ball says trips to MId-West in the B1G would also be something to have Meyer play a number of matches near home. So will see. Assuming Meyers is gone. Also assuming Hayes is a walk-on, and wonder if she'd get a schollie now, seems to have earned it.
lol, the grad degree at Beach seems to be Sports Management. just surprised there are not more MBA types pursued.
good to see the WVB clean up the stench of that last 90 seconds of MBB. Sure wish Polynice had red-shirted last year, lol.
Mad Max is going to be a very special player. hope she stays at least two more years, in this age of free agency. not to overhype expectations, with a solid setter, she'll be POY next year. the progress from August to now is huge.
was it just me, or did the refs allow Karich & Mad Max's 'throws' last night that just a few weeks ago the refs were nit-picking all the time and calling anything that simply had that motion to be a lift. I don't know if it's Huus and men's influence, but they had about 8 of those for kills and use that regularly. let's hope teh BWCT refs are as consistent as last night.
