the win puts Beach in 5th, and only 1 game out of first,
and puts us up a game over SB & Irvine, and SB holds the tie-breaker over us.
plus now get a shot next week at two of the 1st place teams in a hot UCSD at home, then a match at an up and down Hawaii. now have a shot controlling their destiny for a top 2 seed. hopefully can get a big-time crowd for UCSD on Tuesday, and this time reward a big crowd.
Reagan now has some soul searching as a head coach
this 6-2 works, to be blunt. setting is better. I know, it's only 3 games, and it's been essentially 3 must win games. our sets are simply done without the prior running around to make sets which vary a lot - nothing against Meyer, I think having 3 front row attackers and one back row attacker (Karach or Maxell) ON EVERY SINGLE SET is helping make it simple for our setters
Glenn is htting 0.450, with 4 errors in 3 matches. she is back to dominant, not having to play all around. I like her on rested legs. we haven't lost anything in serve because Hayes herself has a hard to handle lefty serve
Maxwell and Karach had very good receiving nights. Do no know why Hain targetted them so much vs. Velucci, Maxwell and Karach came through in their all around play. but hey Hain's been there 9 years and won zilch and what do I know lol.
Karach, so glad for her, may have been her best game, she was so solid.
Chacon is doing what she does best, serving sub
Velucci had some really nice sets.
it just flows like every player can maximize what they do best in this system.
now, Full and Irvine are not the hardest serving teams in teh Big West, so next week will be another test for this different backrow ....or the old backrow
if we go 5-1, then I think Glenn has to go back to all around, the front row is a bit less imposing blocking, we will need better receiving.......it is an excrutiating CD for next week, when you have the Big West Setter of the Year coming back.
team had some jittery moments not capitalizing and some 'huh' mistakes in that first set to not take a lead before 20, got behind by 2, but then Collins had a solid serving run to take control late of the critical 1st set. That was huge, really huge.
in a battle of the two top blocking teams, we won that, great to see, and at Irvine
what a team! now keep getting better to close out this season

Beach beats Irvine 3-1. Close games, but a needed win. This current lineup is getting it done.
