It's actually been a bit odd that after Mad Max's Bake game, she hadn't played other than serving sub.
Harris might present a more physical block, Mad Max i think has grown to be a more consistent terminator. actually thought Mad Max's serve is too focused on the sidelines, she was successful @ Bake just hard floats in teh middle, but maybe that was avoiding Ng last night.
On match point last night, Mad Max made a key play and a nails pass that was really tough as she stepped to the side and in to go after that serve, that gave Hayes a perfect ball for Glenn's kill. That was a big-time pressure confident play/decision, she wasn't gonna let the serve play the back-row.
It'll be interesting to see the coaching decisions next week, I expect the team will have to go 6-2 again as Meyer may still be out on protocol.
also, the Glenn decision to rotate her out of the back-row. It allowed a lefty on the opp all night long with Riley. Sacrficed Glenn's serve, but then last 3 or so weeks Glenn has struggled more with her serve, less pop and more misses. I like keeping Glenn's legs fresh though, Glenn is the biggest concern for wearing down.
also, Karach had one of her best matches. Not saying have to keep with the 6-2, however the sets to the pins were solid mostly.
and we did that last night with no dumps. don't need as many with 3 attackers, or even 4 with Karach in back-row. IMO, Meyer has fallen in love with a few too many ill advised attacks. Granted that keeps the defense off balance, and do like her to take some swings, but the night before she was not good hitting.
still, will see if the euphoria can carry over next week - they need to beat Irvine, it's also pretty much a must win game, win and the BWCT chances are high, lose and will be in big trouble still. Previous Message
Saw Zayner was injured, but what about Harris? Previous Message
Agree on Maura. Given she is third or fourth setter, she really delivered. I remember her early last season having some solid moments as a server {and a few kills as well against TX).then injured her knee in the early season.
Thought she might contribute at least as a serving sub this year?
Also really liked O’Reilly’s contribution. She has a nice arm swing and puts up an effective block. Previous Message
super performance in a 6-2 with Meyers out.
frankly, sets to pins were mostly good, Collins had a couple shaky stretches with location.
Hayes has ice in her veins. and her serve was really good. Player of the Game IMO, provided steady play that was needed, and a big serve late 5h. and O'Reilly with Glenn made for the best Opp atttack all season. Glenn thrived playing only front row.
almost imploded again, lol, losing another big 5th set lead.
makes a huge difference in the prospects to get to the BWCT, still have to beat teams.
assuming Maxwell is now in for good after today.
overcame some poor receiving stretches, overall they dominated Davis though.
hopefully exorcises a lot of demons. Joy is in winning!!
maybe the line-up changes threw off Davis, and had tall blockers up front all match with O'Reilly added. seemed the solid pin sets were good for Abby too
