The WCC could really be in some trouble - just a couple years ago the WCC was probably looking down at the Big West. Look at WCC Volleyball attendance at their top schools, LMU, Pepp, USD - it's not even close to Beach, Hawaii, Poly.
could see the WCC also trying to get Denver, but not sure that would be able to happen.
hard to fault the Big West, aside from one big mistake: in adding Bakersfield and on top of that also permitting Bakersfield to jettison some Big West sports when they did join which they did to 'shore up' their balance sheet lol - simply cannot make this stuff up about how those CS Presidents got played - unbelievably horrible decision by the CS Presidents who got 'schooled' by the then Bake PResident and his Chancelor buddy. What happens when so called 'leaders' like Jane just kiss arse for the sake of kissing arse
St. Mary's is probably looking to go to the MWC now too. WCC will become a 1 bid basketball league with all these changes. What remains are 8 schools, Seattle (added in 2026), Portland, USF, Santa Clara, UOP, LMU, Pepperdine, and USD. Regional schools that fit the profile for expansion include Cal Baptist and Denver.
Announced as a full non-football playing institution. That helps in basketball and weakens the WCC, where they were going to "replace" Gonzaga. Wondering if the WCC will now go after Cal Baptist to "replace" GCU?
