Bottom line is the last ingrateful to Long Beach lazy MBB coach did not see marketing program as his job. zilch. that was something for others. So it didn't get done. maybe it was beneath him, who knows, whatever.
Ackers is like 1000x better than the last coach, he doesn't make web pages, but he makes sure he COMMUNICATES.
Secret scrimmages are not marketable. The are secret so they do not count as a game. information just gets leaked out. As far as marketing goes, there has been more information on social media for MBB and WBB than in the last 10 years combined. You must not be a friend on facebook or check the athletic site very often. MBB puts clips on facebook almost everyday. Both coaches have spent a lot of time in the community. I could say that volleyball doesn't do much marketing because of don't follow it on social media, just attend games. Do a little research and you will see how things are progressing so much better than in the past.
Where is the marketing? The only in the athletic dept we hear from is Nick Macrae for mens volleyball. We have occasionally received a communication from Natalie for women's volleyball.
We get no communication from men's or women's basketball. Where is the marketing? How do they expect to get more donors, season ticket holders or just interest in the programs without marketing. Having kids groups who get greatly discounted tickets is of minimal help.
