Walberg was a bit of a head scratcher to go with for FResno. the guy is like 67 years old? not sure he was the coach the fans would get too excited about
lol, it'll take a lot to get the Red Wave going again, they've haven't been getting much traction since Grant and Tarkanian, even with some decent coaches there. assume we'll be headed to Fresno next year. Also, could be we'll get Pepperdine and SD State and USF potentially next year with this schedule.
Imagine having THREE actual non-conf D1 opponents, lol. did that happen even once during CDM's tenure?
I love this Gonzaga game. total nothing to lose game, even if Few does hope to pile on. Imagine if we won! the ultimate story line, not likely but it's a nothing to lose game for us.
Game will feature new coaches for each school. Vance Walberg developed the dribble drive motion strategy in college basketball and later implemented in the NBA. His JUCO record at Riverside City College is Tarkanianesque, 133-11 over 4 years. Had a terrible record at Pepperdine in 1 1/2 seasons but apparently had health and other personal issues at the time. This offense will be a good test for Acker's defense first strategy which will be put to the test. I only recognize one player on the FSU roster, 6'9 forward Elijah Price, who played at St. Anthony High. He transferred from Xavier last spring and I believe it came down to the Bulldogs and the Beach. Can't wait for that game. If Fresno State is off to a hot start, expect some version of the Red Wave to be at the Pyramid.

#1 has to be playing at Gonzaga. I mean, cmon Monson could never get them on the schedule, or wouldn't, lol.
now Few may want to bash in Long Beach, because we 'wronged' his buddy.
just funny as heck.
only two 'real' home games, vs. Portland and Fresno, but those are ok opponents.
I think the last time, like 8 years ago, Fresno bashed us pretty bad at the Pyramid
the usual 'throw away' games, vs. Laverne (no SHirely), and La Sierra, plus an exhibition vs. Cal Tech
btw, can we ask Cal Tech while there if their braniacs (must be some engineers on the team) can do something about the roof?
love the game at San Francicso, wish it wasn't on a Wednesday, that was a great game to go up there like 7 years ago, and beat them and ran into Pappageorge in the building. but Wednesday is tough to drive up
also, 3 games at the Dollar Loan Center, so not bad again for a road trip if one wants to go watch just a couple neutral games
then play at Pepperdine, so that's easy to get to
and San Diego.
would seem to be a bunch of winnable games, IF this team's ceiling is as good as hoped for.
I imagine if we had returned last year's team, the thoughts of a 1 loss non-conference would be runing thru our minds (well, if MOnson wasn't the coach)
