dominant. TJ had like 4 aces
Russell returning is huge
big turn-around from teh VNL
now have to back it up, one more win gets to round of 16
TJ & Co.
The USA MVB team was an afterthought at the recent Volleyball Nations League, not making the final 8, not looking like a top team for all but maybe a couple of matches, and they didn't play starters a lot. Finished 2nd last year, losing to Poland.
Pretty much hard to gauge. Winning a medal would be a very good achievement. Before this year, USA seemed like a Gold contender, now.......??
btw, Speraw has two somewhat questionable/debatable picks from his UCLA on the team in Ma'a & GM.
TJ has emerged as the focal point of a pretty much very old team. Along with USC setter Christensen.
In a 4 team pool, with Japan, Argentina, & Germany. All beatable, and got swept 3-0 vs. Japan in VNL>
tommorrow at 12 noon vs. Argentina. Pretty much a must win match with 4 team pools.
If they don't make it out of pool play, I do not see how Speraw can be justified to remain as coach because it would be a massive debacle to not get to the round of 16., but also do not see who USA Volleyball would go to replace him with. Ball State coach would be a candidate, I can't think of anyone else who would be.
