...is just age old peer pressure. maybe I'm wrong, just that it 'feels' like almost every player feels or will feel a need to enter the portal every year simply because everyone is doing it lol, like if they don't test the portal they'll be made to feel they are doing something wrong and you are somehow not realizing your full value. this kids simply cannot be old/mature enough IMO for a lot of them to evaluate the trade-off of the loss of continuity form staying and the good that does them, making these athletes even more detached from developing school wide relationships, it's a bad cacoon to be in for 9 months, and then go to another one year after year. it's like the kids growning up whose parents move every two years, takes a toll. unless a player is really unhappy with a coach and the university life. it seemed last year's players were pretty happy at Beach, and leaving that has a negative side.
Yup. I hate the reflexive “he’ll never play there” narrative anytime someone leaves. People still seem to think, as they predicted, Morgan vanished into the ether after leaving. In fact, he ended up as a mostly starting player, was an all defensive league player, led the conference in blocked shots, and sits top 30 all time in Pac12 history in that stat. He’ll go play overseas, the same as his likely outcome had he stayed. Plus, he physically got stronger, something that rarely happens at LB. I’m okay with guys getting whatever $ they can, but hate the fact that nobody seems to acknowledge the players getting a free education including room and board somehow IS ALSO compensation.
who knows, most of these guys leaving will be a don't care to me.
just means there's an SMU player out there looking for a chair somewhere as well
some of these guys will fall on their face with no NIL, no schollie, no job, or hate their new job and boss. overall, these are not mature 20 year olds on average. welcome to the job market!!!
Hope he's getting $$$ because he isn't getting a lot of minutes there...
good health to AJ, some great moments
frankly, this is what the athletes sued for. to me, they leave, there become a don't care, unless it's something really special.
I put AT in that category, and maybe Jones, they did 3 years, hit some major milestones, if they got a Beach degree, then definitely go get a Master's somewhere else
SMU, guessing they pay $50k and up
Beach will have to get a NIL going with some notional amount to offer
Lastima Traore went on a visit to Dallas recently. Maybe a combo deal? I read he has a visit to Xavier
