the two key qualities:
Teaching: Ackers did a solid job describing his experience, & learning experiences he'll fold in; describing CLEARLY what he plans to teach, and some strategy in the individualization needed for each development. a difficult quality to evaluate.
Communication: Gets a solid A. After so many years of cliche-speak associated with the MBB program, to have the head/leader ARTICULATE clearly in understandable english not marred by hiccups and herky-jerky communication was SO dang REFRESHING. This guy can go out to settings more than one on one glad-handling and be effective. Which also will serve him well for teaching. Actually can go away with a clear idea. Reminded a bit of Amy's presser. yes, had to be somewhat rehearsed, he knew the stage/setting.
what wasn't covered. at some point Ackers/Smitheran have to lay out a plan to grow MBB to be able to match the words of their own elite expectations they indicated today: the actual community outreach, meeting goals for increasing fan/booster/alumni participation, and an plan to facilitate some clear plan for NIL (no, not some pie in the sky), but SOMETHING to give Ackers the tools to give solid players a reason to both come and stay because if they can then the top 7 or so will get some nominal amount that is upper Big West level, AND will have some guideance/support for their own marketing. Just something concrete instead of virtually nothing that was with the prior regime.
