25 years ago I had season tickets, traveled to away games, gave money to the school all in the hopes of pride and fun. And it was fun for a while. The KU win, etc.. gave us hope! Alas, the SS. Hope has long since sailed and I honestly don't remember what it's like to wear any LB gear as I gave all mine away.
Long ago I came to the realization and comfort level with the fact the school has zero interest in "winning"...
All they want to do is to provide the ability for D1 students to compete in athletics with a skeleton crew of semi competent "coaches".
There is no master plan. There is no goal to accomplish anything.
CDM is like a restaurant manager at a local diner. He clocks in, makes sure the place doesn't burn down, serves 'OK" food and then goes home. The owners are absent so CDM just goes about his day with zero expectations other than just going home. Every so often his spaghetti is great, most days it's edible.
This is the state of LBSU MBB. Edible spaghetti. Not winning any James Beard awards or Michelin Stars. It's not a place you take a date to impress or see anyone famous. It's a 5 out of 10 and it always will be.
The good news is that it doesn't matter WHO is in charge because the owners are never changing the menu or the ingredients so the product will always be the same old 5 out 10 food.
The real issue is the restaurant itself is crumbling and the owners are going to have make a decision to either move, rebuild or just shut it down in the next few years.
But for now get ready for a BOAT LOAD of losses in the next month. Enjoy the day
tick tock, tick tock
he has been here a long time and now would be the time to replace him at the end of his current contract -- again 5 more months -- ---- GO 49ers --
or they could announce that Scholl will become the next head coach, reduce all uncertainty, and potentially prevent a mass exodus.
the roster would likely bail (and many might anyway) if there is no coach until May
but not holding my breath. this is Monson's last season. no AD that looks at the comprehensive data and performance and communications/marketing would extend CDM, title or not title
in a little over 5 months and most likely cdm will not receive a renewal on his contract -- that is the time to start looking for a new coach ---
perusing the other board, which is always interesting
seriously, what is wrong with having expectations, and then not accepting mediocrity? AFTER SEVENTEEN YEARS of which the last decade has had mostly futility?
yes, it's one game, but the University has made CDM rich, and 17 years is patience, ALL Patience is gone. there will be no patience. patience is earned and this head coach doesn't deserve any, it's that simple.
sure, love this group of players, they aren't gonna like the result, but they got schooled. of course there will be patience for them. but two guys with 1 year of D1 experience outboarded by a mile four guys with 10 years last night. the team was not prepared fundamentally.
prep, motivation, execution, beat us. end of story
