there is something to be said for making the final 4 in New York, but that was about it
it's not like mid-majors have clout, just with the NIT clearly desiring a silly tournament composed mostly of teams with losing records in their conference, finishing 6th or worse as well, and with even their fan bases likely not caring, why should the mid-majors collectively even participate in a decision designed to make the 'table scraps' for mid-majors even worse. the NIT is just trying to fill TV slots somewhare
screw the NIT, frankly, screw all these post-season 'buy-in' tournaments.
as it is, the conf tournaments are the main thing now of interest anyway.
if anything the mid-majors should boycott the NIT and form their own tourny of champions, conference champions only, and have what would be a higher quality product than the NIT will now have with this decision, could be 32 teams. Let the NIT invite the 10th or 11th place team with shitty records from whatever conference to complete their field
