other key metrics, boards/minutes, steals/minute, assists/per minute
Tsohonis: 1.06
LT: 1.33
AT: 1.46
AJ: 1.46
Jones: 1.14
Rotegard: 1.16
Stroud: 1.32
Thompson: 1.15
Silva: 1.13
not surprising the ball handling guards are lower, for Tsohonis the trouble is he did get to the line and is decent FT shooter.
Booker was an astonishing 1.73 (shows what getting to the line and hitting a high% does)
UCSB was at 1.33 as a team last year, we were at 1.21; our opponents were at 1.19
what does this mean ohter than I have too much time on my hands?
AJ, LT, and Thompson (Thompson did not shoot FTs well last year, his assist #s though are far better than anyone we have) will be on the court 30/30+ minutes a game
LT if he can stay out of foul trouble, will be 25 minutes, maybe 30 / game
Jones & Tsohonis assuming healthly should be incrementally better. Jones due to defense will be on the court 25+ minutes a game
Tsohonis could be anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes a game, he is by the biggest wild card, due to needing to prove both defense and his offense flow on the court, & amidst some nagging injuries in conference.
Tsohonis, Polynice, Ngayi, Silva, Lewis, Hart: to me are all guys with a ton to prove to get on the floor for any extended durations.
Rotegaard is a unique case, he's proven and a guy that doesn't make mistakes too often as a reliable sub, demonstrated 3 pt shooter, at 15 minutes a game guy to plug in and not have any bone-head basketball
there's a lot of depth, and players can prove themselves in roles:
it's hard to get around that if Jones (DPOY) is healthy that the main core of 6 guys will be Thompson, AT, LT, AJ, Jones, Stroud simply because from those guys it's a defensive oriented, offense efficient team - with everyone else contributing as they prove themselves, and a lot of the remaining guys could be 20+ minute a game players if they prove themselves (Tsohonis can execute shots better and defend, Polynice can change shots inside and hit 3s, Silva can actually show he's a reliable shooter and quick enough to distribute and defend opposing shorter guards to stay on the floor, etc.). how well the team ceiling is depends on that ceiling.
