AT especially & AJ in particular I think can go to 35 or so minutes a game with a couple gaps each half - they have great stamina
and how much will Tsahonis dedicate himself in the off-season to defense mentality, and to becoming more pass-first? Issa & Thompson in particular are the guys that are gonna carve into Tsahonis time, if their ball-handling/decision-making are more in line with the team spacing out, and oculd relegate Tsahonis to less time if he is stuck in ball-stopping mode.
if I were to pick line-ups I expect
#1 if I were to pick the initial line-up due to speed and muscle and ability to get up and down the court
LT
AT
Jones
Thompson
AJ
#2 interchangeablility line-up where pick-n-rolls won't work against us
AT
Jones
AJ
Issa
Rotegaard
#3: 1-3-1 supersubs defense with size & shooting
Stroud
Tsahonis
Issa
Rotegaard
Polynice
lots of intriguing line-up possibilities Previous Message
I agree that traditional positioning is no longer the norm, that is why I listed so many players at different positions.
I also see Jones, George and Aboubacar as playing lots of minutes. But, I think depth is the strength of this team. In the last couple years we have been trying to play very fast offense (run, run, run) and aggressive pressing defense. To do so effectively, I dont think anyone will play 33 minutes a night if the whole roster is healthy. I am thinking more like 28-30. Previous Message
here's the (my) expectation;
AT, Jones, AJ all 33 minute players
LT a 30 minute player
that leaves the rest 7-8 guys competing for the other 100 minutes. between competition and staff reinforcing good decision making and playing to roles on the court with playing time, should be interesting. and competition will be good Previous Message
this is the depth I like
left out:
PG: A Traore
SG: A. Traore
WIngs: A. Traore
C: A. Traore
modern basketball no longer is a 1,2,3,4,5 position game
3 wings & 2 forward
or 4 wings and 1 big/shot-blocker (this latter is what the Lakers & a lot of teams do)
hopefully Monson has got it thru his thick skull to get guys spaced on offense (we saw some of that 'evolution' out of necessity thru injuries in 2021, and last year not getting always bogged down in classic PG dribbling around)
the guys I expect to play:
wings
Jones, Rotegaard, THompson, Issa, Tsahonis, AJ, AT, Silva
bigs
Polynice, Stroud, LT, Rotegaard, AT, NGoyi, Jones, AJ
Polynice & Lewis to me are the 2 most intriguing players.
Polynice showed a potential for a pick and pop big, shot blocking force (but how dedicated is he to brusing it up and improvement. & Lewis potential playing at D1 speed. Previous Message
Our roster is now complete. That means its time to speculate on lineups and depth. Starting with each position, I will list players who will play multiple positions in more than one spot.
PG: Silva, Thompson, Tsohonis, Hart, Monson
SG: George, Tsohonis, Jones, Lewis
SF: Jones, George, Rotegaard, A Traore
PF: A. Traore, Polynice, Stroud, Rotegaard, Ngoyi
C: L. Traore, Stroud, Polynice, Ngoyi, Yan
Starting lineup:
PG: Silva
Wings: George, Jones
PF: A Traore
C: Lassina Traore
Line Change
PG: Thompson
Wings: Tsohonis, Rotegaard
PF: Polynice
C: Stroud
I love the depth!
10 quality players who can give us great minutes without even mentioning Freshmen Hart(RS), Ngoyi (RS) and Lewis. I don't know how good they will be, but Lewis comes in as a 3 star recruit, and his HS numbers indicate he could be a factor too. Prior to hurting his knee, Ngoyi was described to me as the fastest player on the team. Not so sure about Hart, he wasn't ready last year, but his pedigree is amazing, look forward to seeing him on the court.
