just too bad, cause we played Pepper well, other than the end liek the player he is he just bull rushed to the bucket, and we didn't contest him earlier so he got the calls and some lay-ups
they still got two excrutiating 3 pt fouls, but in unusual circumstances, which were just huge, and mistakes on our defenders
AJ really had no business at that point trying to contest that one 3 on his flyby, and fouling out, needs to know he had 4 fouls and was too valuable to make that move. as it turned out, Rotegaard did come in and hit two big 3s, which for a moment seemed to give as a huge edge, which of course we couldn't sustain
Jones, boy, that could easily been a no-call, he made the mistake that is often made of not having his arms totally vertical, the contact was incidental and the Davis shooter actually looked like he jumped a bit sideways just to draw the foul
it's tough for a defender in that situation to almost put their arms almost backward like essentially surrender position.
side note, Jones has to stop trying to draw fouls on his 3, IMO, it threw off his rhythm on his shot in this game, just shoot the dang ball. I think he's got the call enough leading up to this game where his focus got to be too much on drawing the foul and not the shot itself.
Funny thing was apparently both teams watched film, David pump faked a ton and it did not work because LB didn't bite.
for the last 8 years, every time we play Davis, we give up 2 or 3 3 pt fouls because..
a) they know we will take the bait when they fake a 3, &
b) we don't jump vertical, our guys jump in to the shooter
the #1 thing vs. Davis is TO NOT LEAVE YOUR FEET.
the team/program should know this by now.
stay on your feet in all things defensive and you'll beat Davis
