Calvin Sanborn with a HUGE serving run late 3rd set when it looked like on verge of the last 3 sets been dominated.
Good to see Olivier respond and confident on teh front row.
we've beat two elite UCLA setters in Ma'a & Partain last few years, this frosh kid looks like he might be even better
bottom line is serve-receive has to like the first set in receive, which was nails
on serve:
Towrie serving was a mess, to contend have to score points on his serve, his jump serve is a mess. and then his float serve was even worse. has to be a timing issue, so hopefully that gets on track
our jump servers frankly are a bit predictable, UCLA just camps out at the end line. We need 1 or 2 to have a 'short serve' where they can pull the string so to speak like TJ and Nikolov did. if one of these guys can do that and mask it, it'd create more havoc for the hard serves as well
Briggs is simply sensational. and now he showed a quick set to the middles a couple of times. don't see that.
fantastic crowd again, a sellout albeit seems like a couple hundred with tix didn't bother to show up. Bruin fans are always impressed with the Beach VB atmosphere - just sucks couldn't reverse the loss and get to what would have been a ball-burner 5th set

should be a packed Pyramid, close to if not a sell-out for the rematch today
UCLA pretty much spanked us in all facets, and looked good doing it from the few glimpses
broke our 5 match winning streak at Pauley no less, and also it seemed having the Bruins or Trojans resort to using funky rec gyms (Wooden/North) in order to beat the Beach
big challenge, need Olivier to step up and back to his earlier season terminator mode he showed against Penn State
