I mean, can people imagine if they went to a USC or UCLA football game and started playing something different with nada a discussion, then there'd be people cruxified. but apparently it's Long Beach State, and maybe someone figured if they had it open for discussion it would be have some rancor, so they just did it
it's sad, a nameless gutless decision and nobody questioning it. did the band propose it? I mean if the band wrote a new song as a project and as an update or new version, I'd get it and could see a path. but this is just bizaare. It's not a bad song, it's just beyond insulting to University and alumni, like it's ok because LB was some historically wayward institution. Just bizaare
what's to prevent having a new fight song every year now, just f'ck having any tradition on pride about the University
I actually don't mind the 'you don't want to go to war with the Niners', heck that may be the last thing left with Niners in it!! I like the music itself of it, and gets the students up, and it wasn't to supplant anything, like has been done with the fight song and Superstar

I agree with you. Everything about the game was outstanding except for the result. Great enthusiastic crowd, almost back to par size wise. Overflowing student section. The Myd was rocking. Hope the students keep coming.
The bad. The stupid new fight song. No reason to change the old one. Why keep changing it. The newest one is worse than the “You Don’t Want To Go To War With The 49ers.” Nothing wrong with Superstar either. It is an insult to the Alumni. It’s like we don’t have any history or tradition at all.
Also at the introductions. The announcer used to say Here Are Your 49ers, now he says Here Is Your Long Beach State Basketball Team. I’m sure management told him to say that.

Band really good again, which is good to see, minus the wrong fight song. That again appears ONE person I guess can just obliterate history on their own, crazy
On some perverted level at least the mascot wasnt UTR, but the way the fight song has changed is a disgrace, and insult to all alumni and others
