the difference not having Cobb & Slater defending, & Tsahonis not a good 1 on 1 defender as those
would think with time Hunter which his quickness could defend
plus Idaho spreads the floor when they isolate. our offense just never spreads the floor well. guys have a tendency to crowd towards the ball, it's one reason we don't get better 3s.
Idaho kicks out the ball better.
our zone is always gonna be prone to open 3s in the corners, it's there for the taking.
still need better perimeter block outs, but the boards have gotten better. plus we just do not trap quickly enough. not sure we really are equipped for pressing other A. Traore & Jones. we are slow to trap when we need to - leads to more open shots, less steals.
but yeah TOs was and is a huge problem.
just have to keep up and increase bodies on the boards, this team could be a huge rebounding team with the length/size, but it's bodies on guys

Against Idaho the 3 point shooting and defense was indeed improved. Additionally, the rebounding issues of earlier seem to be far better lately. The new issues are now stopping dribble penetration and turnovers. I did not watch specifically, so I am unsure, but it is reasonable to wonder if tightening up on perimeter defense may have allowed players to drive past defenders into the paint. Most of the turnovers seem to be coming from one-on-one play rather than passing issues. Seemed like we had a ton of offensive fouls with players out of control for a big portion of them. I expect the return of Jadon Jones will shore up areas of weakness in 3 point shooting and defense. Since he is the reining DPOY and our best 3 point shooter, it is reasonable to expect him to make a difference in both areas. Previous Message
we are 3-6 vs. D1, ugh
we have not won a D1 game in December, ugh
we lost two D1 games after full weeks of practice, that we should have won.
once again, this will bethe 3rd game in Dec following a FULL week of practice, at some point, some grounding in fundamentals has to show up
I though this team might go 8-3 to this point, talent wise, maybe 6-5 could have been palatable, but not this.
non-conf didn't create any buzz, and now two games in Dec to start the Big West.
the program and the players have to do SOMETHING to get fans/students involved.
would just like to see this group of players go out and play like they are PISSED OFF!
