someone on that board said Sealy was making $600k, that's hogwash.
Sealy was making $280 in 2016, he might be close to 400k....maybe. Tyler is not making that, but again he is making a very good salary relative to top coaches. It was reported at the time that the 'agreement' would keep Tyler in the top 10 of salaries as I recall. Now, was that a contractual agreement? I don't know, that would be tough for Beach to maintain that.
Cook makes $800k plus I beleive at Nebraska, Elliot makes close to that at Texas I believe. Most other top 2-3 coaches are at the $500k and below level I think.
Big West coaches other than Tyler may make $125k, and probably a couple not even at $100k. (like North or Riverside)
I don't know Tyler's exact number, sure it is the highest by far in the Big West.
just hoping He stays, and pads his resume, and quelches any speculation so that his recruiting xfers starts in ernest. There are candidates for the job who wouldn't get into serious discussion for 2-3 weeks due to the NCAAs.
Tyler does have a lucrative contract relative to mid-majors. I'm sure the AD (and boss) change has created some challenges, plus uncertainty on a new boss, who will change sometime between now and a year from now.
I think people would be wise to not use words like renege not knowing the entire context. Yes, what Fee 'promised' is we know currently different than an interim bean counter.
Still, am sure Tyler wants to show more success at Long Beach more than this year and a year from now. There were some bumps (which can't be attributed to admin) in the performance of the team, and Tyler had his own learning curve. Overall a significant step up.
still, in speculating. UCLA is one of the two major jobs in SoCal. Also, others other than Tyler will be targeted taht frankly have proven more than Tyler, and others apply as well. Maybe Unger from Oregon. Hard to really know who they'll target and who will target UCLA (they'll have no shortage of interested parties). There's the Big 10 aspect to consider, that yes UCLA will likely get an infusion of money, and also the staff (not just the players) have to take 5 trips in Oct and November to mid-west and east coast.....not fun especially with a young family. The job is a big grind. Not saying there's not a grind with the Beach job, just the Big West is about as a comfortable travel/time management coaching position one could create in the US. While of course limitations on recruits that might consder, the threshold in competition to be more competitive is also good. If he gets in 2-3 years with a couple Big West titles and/or NCAA appearances, he'll still have lots of options.
would not be surprised if he gets a courtesy call, just there will be a number of others.
Aside from Karch who could walk over and have the job in 5 minutes, it'll be interesting who wants/takes the job. But that won't happen anyway.
On the wood board, BB notes Old Janey has reneged on commitments made to Tyler regarding the WVB program. Besides UCLA, there are some other openings across the country where he would fit. I knew Old Janey would find some way to screw this up. Can she screw CDM over too, so he'll quit?
Natty was a long time ago, and they missed the NCAAs this year.
