275? it's a university?
one of the answer will come by the 3's -- 17 % won't cut it -- i think beachbacker and i could hit a higher percentage then 17% -- i saw the band but no jane ------------- well i guess she is so busy that she does not have the time to come down and watch her teams play -- i wonder what pronoun i can use to "discrap" this? ---------------
first of all, hope people saw the St. Kate guard constesting one of our threes, then did a 180 and placed his ass squarely in the gut of our shooter, pushing and sealing our guy out of bounds with his butt strength so that our shooter would never sniff the thought of a rebound. Now that is how you block out on the perimeter.
WE ARE HORRIFIC ON PERIMETER BLOCK-OUTs, this is a coaching issue, guys should have had their butt sat about 20 times today. we will get clocked rebounding in spite of this supposed new collective height; last year we Out-rebounded teams in the Big West without any size, it's called putting a friggen body on guys, because mainly of the example guys like Cobb and Slator set. this is SAD - somebody with this program needs to step up and get in the faces of these guys. this is a wingy team and we are SOFT
bad #2: worst fear that we would press and score off the press against a JV team, and mask so many fundamentals came true. St. Kate scored 40 points 2nd half had no business scoring 25 in a half. they sliced up our defense whether man or the attempt at a 1-3-1 disorganized zone. I'll give some credit for being a game to practice it though. we are slow in the 1-3-1. the one thing guys play hard at is their one on one defense.
bad #3: using the press also limited our half-court reps. for a lot of 1st half good to see we would be methodical
bad #4: the offense scheme. my god, this is the wrong offense/spacing for this group. why I wish we had slowed it down to force playing more half-court sets. our bigs tried so many crowded interior passes the TOs from trying to make passes that weren't there was horrific. I think this a CDM fixation with CDM to have our bigs stay within 5 feet of each other, lol. If posting (we had a few nice posts for good shots), the offense has to space them and the bigs need to eaarn how to space. bigs were just not stong with the ball, exposing it tyring passes into traffic, etc.
bad #5: maybe the biggest issue is nobody can hit a 3. Rotegaard is Oh-for this year, Tone, zip, Tsahonis went oh'fers today, after Jones hit 2 early ones, we got zip in 3s from half-court, partly spacing, partly stopped moving the ball. guarantee every opposing coaching staff is looking at our stats and rejoice. beating teams by scoring twos while other teams hit 3s doesn't work any more.
the good: last year at this time the team was a wreck, these are a lot of Jucos who need to learn how to play basketball, the upcoming tournament won't be as challenging as the T'giving tourny last year. Murray will eventually step up a bit as a facilitator. George will develop. Still Nnt sure ehow much Tsahnois will provide, he needs to hit open 3s, he needs to play better D and be more physical defensivley
a work in progress. The Bigs really are struggling with D1 speed and strength right now. Tone is learning, but he has to hit some shots as well and make some passes in the half-court, this isn't rec league
scoreboard says Beach is winning by a ton
watch these guys, perimeter guys will contest a shot and then WATCH, instead of hustling to either go for a board or find a guy to put a body on
I'd be benching this group left and right, so many unimpeded paths to teh bucket for St. Kate
in this game, won't show up , but vs. D1 and Big West we're gonna get schooled
