on the plus side, that was the toughest conference match/environment they'll see the rest of the year. dense noisy Gym and a flppin Sauna inside - the cooling system is they open all the doors to get some air in.
they got outblocked, no surprise, the two Poly pins hit the ball HARD and they have a physical block, not the dink, dunk, BIC game we play. and all of this should have been no surprise to the Staff when they prepared. the frosh setter was solid, setting was as good/better than Meyer.
still had chance to win sets 3 and 4 late, didn't make plays, and didn't handle Dvoracek's serve all that well. She's top 3 in conference, and likely POY candidate.
so round 1 over, Beach is looking up and Tyler some figuring out to do, and now see how they respond, the Poly matches dug Joy's teams into the graveyard every single year the opening weekends
Not going to beat Poly in their gym with so many hitting errors. Twelve aces is great, but negated by all the service errors. All those early aces for Morgan and it looked like she was going to have a Jakob Thelle night. Was expecting Maia to have a good night and Tommy came out on fire and continued to put up big numbers. We need more height on the pins and that's something I expect Tyler to rectify thru the portal in the off season. This is a process and it's going to take some time and I have confidence that Tyler and his staff will elevate the program.
