assigning it to VP is basically washing her hands of it, and telling someone else to go clean up her mess - I mean bottom line is they'd probably have to cut schollie money to save money, I doubt Fee has built up new business funding - she full well knows and has known the University has to kick in money to have a D1 program, it's not massive numbers, but it has to be consistent - no new news there

problem is there still needs to be interim leadership/funding growth, and what she's proposed doesn't seem to align with that when she's distancing herself. The interim needs NIL/Marketing leadership big time. Poor guy, sounds like she's punting to insulate herself from taking leadership, but wouldn't be a surprise

why isn't she retiring is the question, & how is Fullerton 'expanding' - they have to be facing similar issues just like Long Beach

It's my understanding that Conoley was caught somewhat off-guard by the extent of the deficit. That's not surprising, is it? The change in reporting should be interpreted as a tacit admission that she doesn't know what she's doing, but it probably won't be.

so why isn't Cononly leaving, I mean the University surely knows to complete in D1 (at least for top tier Big West) it has to supplement the budgets

Ted is there for one thing, and one thing only: to get the fiscal house in order. The department has a HUGE deficit, and that's the reason for Fee departing. As for the actual running of the sports program(s), that's not Ted's strength or interest.

teh main concern is not a great time for a vacuum, plus, Conolly is having the AD report to a VP, so big question is during a critical time of changes in the NCAA, who is gonna be taking on the NIL/Marketing/Collective strategy that it would seem Beach needs to get their arms around - at a time the Beach needs to get out in front on the programs

Haven't heard a peep from anyone (both boards) regarding whether this is a good interim hire or not. Based on this guys background, it wouldn't surprise me if he seeks the A.D. position permanently.
