it was pretty clutch, Smith had to qualitfy on his last jump, or he was done. Still not a personal best, if he can just get above his personal best at the finals, he could get top 3.

and two more events to go for him as well

now that is a long long way to jump - but - still 4 plus feet short of the world record -- can/t forget bob beamen? -- and never came close to that mark again in his career --
